If you are searching for an affordable and basic nanny cam or IP wireless security camera, then this one by NexGadget ticks all of the boxes. It doesn’t have all of the features of some of the other nanny cams, but it has the essentials for making sure that everyone is safe at home.

With this wireless IP security camera you have an easy one-key setup that takes about 5 minutes, one-way audio (not 2-way communication), day vision (no IR night time vision), and motion detection. You can also manually move the camera 90 degrees up and down (no automatic pan & tilt) and mount it from the ceiling as well.

For only having a few basic functions, this nanny cam is currently selling really well and I think it is because it is so easy to set up and the app is easily to use (unlike many other nanny cams).

What is one-way audio?

The Nexgadget IP wireless security camera only has one-way audio, which means that you can hear what is happening in the room, but you can’t speak to anyone in the room. 

Many parents might feel more comfortable with 2-way communication, where you can talk to your children, the babysitter or your partner at home. This is a very basic model and is fairly cheap (currently less than $40), but if you really want 2-way communication, then check out this upgraded Nexgadget nanny cam – but it costs more.

90 degree rotation

You might have realized that the Nexgadget IP wireless security camera doesn’t have an automatic Pan & Tilt. It does however, have 720p HD resolution and the ability to rotate the camera 90 degrees in the vertical, giving you a large 80 degree coverage.

Easy set up and operation of this IP wireless security camera

Set up is easily accomplished in 5 minutes on your iPhone or Android smartphone. All you need to do is to download the iSmartviewpro app onto your mobile device, click on the “one key wifi”, input the name of your wifi and the password and then click “configure”.

Then place your mobile phone within 1 meter of the nanny cam, click “add camera” and scan in the QR code. You can then customize your password and you are ready to go!

 FYI: This nanny cam only works on 2.4Ghz, not 3G or 4G.

The app is very easy and intuitive to use, however some customers do have problems with setting up the initial connection, whilst most just breeze through the process.

Motion detection

When motion is detected in the room within the nanny cam’s field of view you will be sent an SMS notification to your phone and an email containing pictures of the triggering event.

Once you have received a triggering event, you can open the app and view the live feeds – recording these for later viewing.

Storage options for the Nexgadget IP wireless security camera

This wireless IP security camera does not have an SD card slot, so if you want to record any of the live recordings, you will need to save them to your mobile phone and transfer them across to your PC.

You can easily mount this nanny cam to a wall or ceiling using the screws that are included. Mounting this security camera high on the wall or on the ceiling along with the 90 degree vertical rotation, helps to increase your field of view of the space.

Despite being a very basic model, this nanny cam is popular and is selling well with more than 75% of customers giving it a 4 or 5 star rating. Any problems seem to be concerned with not being able to make the initial connections, but most people find it really easy to setup and operate.

My thoughts on this IP wireless security camera by Nexgadget

If you want a cheap nanny cam or home security camera that is fairly basic and easy to setup, then this model by Nexgadget might be the one for you.

It doesn’t have two-way communication, but you can hear what is going on in the room, so if you only want to keep an eye on what is happening at home, then you won’t miss this feature. You also don’t have a pan & tilt feature, but you can zoom in using the app and rotate the camera manually to position it for a maximum viewing angle of the room.  

Customers use this security camera for keeping an eye on their children when they are working away, watching their pets and making sure that their office is secure.
